Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05) will join presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for a rally against the “billionaire class” in Minneapolis Sunday.
“This Sunday, join Ilhan Omar and I at our rally in Minneapolis. Help us show Trump and the rest of the billionaire class that we’re ready to take on their corruption and create a nation based on justice,” Sanders wrote on Twitter.

Sanders then announced that the rally had been moved from the Northrop Auditorium to Williams Arena (both on the University of Minnesota campus) due to “high demand.” The campus is located in Omar’s district, as was President Donald Trump’s recent rally at the Target Center.
“Join Ilhan Omar and I in the fight to continue our political revolution,” said Sanders, who hosted a rally with Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) last weekend and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14) the weekend before.

The Northrop Auditorium has a seating capacity of 2,700 while the Williams Arena can seat more than 14,000. President Trump’s rally in Minneapolis earlier this month was held at the Target Center, which has a capacity of 20,000.
Omar was the first member of the “squad” to endorse Sanders, whom she described as the “only candidate who has built a movement and continues to build a movement that transcends gender, ethnicity, and religion.”
“We know that in order to take on Trump, we’re going to need a unifier, someone who understands what the fight looks like and someone who is ready to defeat him,” Omar said in her endorsement.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison joined Omar in passing over hometown candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar and endorsing Sanders. He said Sanders has dominated the debates “with the force of ideas” and will “support him” like he did “last time.” Gov. Tim Walz and the rest of Minnesota’s Democratic congressional delegation have endorsed Klobuchar in the race.
“Go Sanders Go!” Ellison wrote on Twitter Tuesday in response to a New Hampshire poll that has Sanders leading the Democratic field.
Sanders defeated Hillary Clinton in Minnesota’s 2016 Democratic caucuses but is trailing former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren in most national polls.
